Optical fiber fabry-perot sensor based on a singlemode-hollow core-singlemode fiber structure for direct detection of phase transition in n-octadecane

An optical fiber Fabry-Perot sensor to monitor the solid-liquid and liquid-solid phase changes in n-octadecane is investigated. The probe fabricated by splicing a short section of hollow core between two single-mode fibers. Light from broadband source launched into experiences multiple reflections as it travels towards cleaved end immersed material sample then back detector, creating an output interference spectrum with dips. change vicinity results various parameters acting upon (such temperature, strain or bending) which turn cause spectrum. By analyzing probe, such spectral shift selected dip, within can be accurately detected. This work useful for providing better understanding mechanism phase-change materials (PCMs) in-situ detection PCM-based energy storage systems.
